Full Day Workshop

WORKSHOP INFORMATION

FULL DAY BEGINNERS WORKSHOP – 10.30 – 5pm £165 per person

Minimum 2 Students – Maximum 4 – No experience necessary

This is the perfect course to progress onto if you have already attended our 3hr taster course, OR for students with limited experience wanting a full day to explore a variety of options and effects. This course will give you more in-depth knowledge on all the wonderful things you can achieve with fused glass. We will explain how fused glass works, and the choices you have with powders, frit, stringers, murrine, inclusions and what to consider when choosing your colour options and why.

You will then be taught how to cut glass and the best way to achieve the desired shapes without the use of expensive equipment.

We tend to make one project in the morning and another in the afternoon after lunch, depending on each student’s natural speed to work and their design choice. Some students prefer to make several smaller items whereas others prefer to concentrate on a more time-consuming project.

Each subject will start off with me doing an example of how things work and what equipment is best to use and why.

Up to two firings are included in the price which would complete your work, but should you want them slumped into a free-standing S Bend or bowl, additional firings are charged at £15 each.

At the end of the day, we will discuss firing programmes for each piece made and the reasoning behind why they are different.

We can then discuss how best to progress, and advice is given on suitable courses to further your interest should you become hooked!

Students are asked to bring their own packed lunch, but hot and cold refreshments & biscuits are provided throughout the course.

Please ensure you wear closed toe shoes, wear something comfortable and avoid anything that will drape in your work such as a long necklace or long flowing sleeves.
