Full Day Taster Workshop - Set Projects

FULL DAY TASTER COURSE - 10.30 – 5pm

£165 – No experience necessary - Minimum 2 Students – Maximum 4   - Students to bring a packed lunch.

This workshop is the perfect starting point if you would like to set aside a day to maximise your learning as you get a taster of several techniques and options. We will first explain how fused glass works, all the various options you have with this wonderful medium, including slumping and the choices you have with powders, frit, stringers, murine, inclusions & fibre paper. You will then have a brief lesson on how to cut glass before we discuss what you will be making and what to consider when choosing your colour options and why.

Everyone works at different speeds so there is no pressure to rush as its more important that you enjoy your experience and are happy with what you have made.

During your day, we aim to make a maximum of 5 items:

1 x 20 x 20 Suncatcher or wall art

2 x 10cm x 10cm Coasters

1 x 10cm x 20cm kiln Carve piece

Up to two firings are included in the price which would complete your work, but should you want them slumped into a free-standing U Bend or bowl, additional firings are charged at £15 each.

At the end of the day, we will discuss firing programmes for each piece made and the reasoning behind why they are different. We can then discuss how best to progress and advice is given on suitable courses to further your interest should you become hooked!

Students are asked to bring their own packed lunch, but hot and cold refreshments & biscuits are provided throughout the day.

Please ensure you wear closed toe shoes, wear something comfortable and avoid anything that will drape in your work such as a long necklace or long flowing sleeves.
